Yeasha Sobhan, Honorable Vice Chairman of Safwan Bashundhara Global (SBG), Director of Bashundhara Group and Chairman of Bashundhara Special Children Foundation, has received the Mother Teresa International Peace Award 2026 in recognition of her outstanding contribution to autism and her continued commitment to the well-being of children with special needs.
The award was presented at a ceremony held at a prominent hotel in Dhaka on August 29, 2026, organized by the SAARC Cultural Forum.
The recognition highlights Yeasha Sobhan’s commitment to supporting children with autism and other special needs, while promoting greater awareness, inclusion in main stream care and opportunities for them across society in Bangladesh.
Established in 2017, Bashundhara Special Children Foundation has expanded its activities over the years and currently supports more than 600 students with special needs. The Foundation focuses on creating a supportive environment where children can access education, care, guidance and opportunities for their overall development.
As a Chairman of the Foundation, Yeasha Sobhan has remained closely engaged in initiatives supporting the education, care and development of children with special needs. Her social commitment also extends to underprivileged communities across Bangladesh. She is associated with Thalassemia Foundation and its efforts to support people affected by thalassemia. Her social initiatives also include interest-free microcredit programs designed to provide financial support and livelihood opportunities for disadvantaged individuals and families.
Together, these initiatives reflect a broader commitment to social welfare, inclusion and creating meaningful opportunities for vulnerable communities in Bangladesh.
The Mother Teresa International Peace Award 2026 recognizes Yeasha Sobhan’s continued engagement in humanitarian and social causes, with particular emphasis on autism-related initiatives and the well-being of children with special needs.
The recognition also underscores the importance of sustained support for children with special needs through education, care, therapy, skills development and opportunities for greater independence. Beyond her social initiatives, Ms. Yeasha Sobhan has also contributed to business diversification through her leadership at Safwan Bashundhara Global, supporting the expansion of different business ventures and the creation of employment opportunities. Through her leadership roles at Safwan Bashundhara Global and Bashundhara Special Children Foundation, she continues to contribute to both economic and social development, while advancing efforts toward a more inclusive society where children with special needs are supported with dignity, respect and opportunities to realize their potential.
